Setting Up Your Apple Mail Application

This tutorial shows you how to set up Apple Mail to work with your Cafe Edgee mail account.
To Set Up Your Apple Mail

1. From the Mail menu, select Preferences.

2. Select the Accounts tab, and click the plus sign (+) at the bottom of the Accounts box.

In the Account Information screen, select POP from the Account Type list, and enter your information as follows:

Description
Enter the name of your account. (This can be anything, just so you know it from any other e mail account. )

Full Name
Enter your name.

Email Address
Enter your email address.

Incoming mail server
Type your domain name

User Name
Enter your email address.

Password
Enter the password you set up for your email account.

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
Type your domain name

Check the Use Authentication box

User Name
Type your e mail address

Password
Type your mail account password.

Click continue. If you recieve the error below after waiting for several minutes it means your ISP service provider is blocking the default out going mail port. We will show you how to change that later in the tutorial (bottom of page step 11). If you do not get this error then proceed with intructions.

The continue button may not be lit for several minutes if the out going server is blocked. Once it is lit click continue.

Choose Password

then click continue

Your account summary should look a lot like this. Click continue

If you did not get the outgoing mail error described in step 6 then your new account is ready to be tested. Send an e mail to yourself. if you can send it and then recieve it after checking mail, you are done.

Your final account screen should look like the screen above.

11. If you recieved the outgoing mail server error described in step 5 and 6 then click on the server settings button.

When the pop up box opens change the default server port from 25 to 26. Then proceed to test your e mail account. If you still get the error and can not send mail try changing the port to 80.
